Lily Allen's "LDN" (which you can download below) is THE Song for the Summer 2006. I haven't seen the blogosphere erupt over one song since Annie's "Chewing Gum" hit a few years ago. It's the same kind of buzz that launched M.I.A. onto everyone's iPods, and it's spreading faster than that Britney/DFA track leaked. We're talking MAJOR buzz.
So...who is Lily Allen? She's a 20-year-old British singer/rapper from London who put some of her tunes on MySpace and ended up with over 1,000,000 listeners.
This Guardian article explains how Lily turned that MySpace account into a deal with a record label. She's also the daughter of
Keith Allen.

Pitchfork says:
"Lily's debut single "LDN" is breezy, lilting summertime pop, a horn-tinged tribute to London-- loving without being fawning, charming without being all winks and nods. It's the sort of song that hasn't sniffed U.S. radio since the late-90s (think "How Bizarre", or Sugar Ray if they didn't suck), but will likely set up residency at No. 1 in the UK for weeks."
